Road closed 01:00hrs to 07:30hrs Sunday 7th September 2008 from its jct with Radcliffe Road to its jct with Northumberland Road to allow maintenance work at level crossing. Diversions. . Road closed for 2 nights (1800-0600) starting on Monday 4th August 2008 from its jct with Bursledon Road to its jct with Barrow Down Gardens to allow carraigeway surfacing to be carried out. Diversion via Bursledon Road, Warburton Road, Burgoyne Road and Barrow Down Gardens. . MONTGOMERY ROAD/ WAVELL ROAD . Temporary signals in use at this jct from Wednesday 23rd July to Tuesday 29th July 2008 to allow gas main replacement. WEST QUAY ROAD . Road closed southbound on Sunday 10th August from 0300hrs to 1000hrs and from 1600hrs until 0600hrs on Monday 11th August, from the access road leading to Leisureworld to the northernmost jct with the West Quay Service Road, to allow a crane to be used. Diversion via Harbour Parade. . Road closed eastbound for one night (20:30 to 06:30) Wednesday 3rd September from its jct with Harbour Parade (southernmost jct) to its jct with Devere Grand Harour Hotel entrance to allow the Boat Show footbridge to be erected. A diversion will be in place. The westbound direction will also be closed for a 5 minute period while the bridge span is swung into position. The exact time of this closure will be determined on site. Traffic will be held at the traffic signals being put to red until it is safe to proceed. . Road closed eastbound for one night (20:30 to 06:30) Wednesday 24th September from its jct with Harbour Parade (southernmost jct) to its jct with Devere Grand Harour Hotel entrance to allow the Boat Show footbridge to be dismantled. Diversion. HINKLER ROAD . Resurfacing works will be carried out along Hinkler Road for 3 weeks commencing Monday 11th August 2008. The sections which are to be closed are between Byron Road and Tatwin Crescent, between Marston Road and Dryden Road, and between Heywood Green and Fairfax Court. The surfacing works will progress along the road and access will be maintained up to the actual works area. Diversions will be in place. . WATERHOUSE LANE . Temporary signals in use at the jct with Lemon Road from Friday 25th July to Monday 4th August 2008 and at the jct with Testwood Road from Friday 25th July to Friday 8th August 2008 to allow the laying of electric cables. . SPRING ROAD . Temporary signals in use between the jcts with Blackthorn Road and Deacon Road from Monday 21st July to Monday 25th August 2008 to allow gas main replacement. . FREEMANTLE COMMON ROAD . Road closed for 6 weeks commencing Monday 28th July 2008 from its jct with Freemantle Close to its jct with Morley Close to allow gas main replacement works to be carried out. Diversion. Temporary signals will also be in use between its jct with Freemantle Close and its jct with Peartree Avenue throughout the works. . WILTON ROAD/ BELLEMOOR ROAD . Wilton Road is to be closed from its jct with Winchester Road to its jct with Bellemoor Road and temporary traffic signals will be in use at the Wilton Road jct with Bellemoor Road. Also the footway on Bellemoor Road will be closed from its jct with Wilton Road to its jct with Moorland Road. This is to allow for traffic calming measures to be implimented. Work starts 28th July 2008 & is due to last for 4 weeks. Diversion route for the Wilton Road closure is via Winchester Road, Luccombe Road & Bellemoor Road. (and vice versa). . WATERHOUSE LANE . Road closed in both directions from its jct with Endeavour Close to its jct with Imperial Avenue for 18 days commencing Tuesday 5th August to allow electrical cables to be laid. Diversion. . MIDANBURY LANE . Road closed in both directions for 2 weeks commencing Monday 28th July 2008 from its jct with Cobden Avenue to its jct with Bitterne Road West to allow carraigeway resurfacing to be carried out. Diversion. . REDBRIDGE CAUSEWAY/ REDBRIDGE FLYOVER . Roads closed westbound from their jcts with Redbridge Road/Redbridge Rbt to the end of the causeway for two nights (22:00 to 05:00hrs) starting Monday 18th August 2008 to allow Hampshire County Council to carry out repairs to barriers on river crossing. Motorway traffic diversion via Redbridge Rbt, M271, M27 (J3 to J2), Totton Western Bypass and Ringwood Road. Non-motorway traffic diversion via Redbridge Rbt, Redbridge Road, Millbrook Rbt, Tebourba Way, Romsey Road, Southampton Road, Bypass Road, Mainstone, Pauncefoot Hill, Salisbury Road, Totton Western Bypass and Ringwood Road. Commencing on the same date for a period of 13 weeks a temporary 30mph Speed limit will also be in place along this westbound carraigeway when it is reopened. . PORTSMOUTH ROAD/ BOTLEY ROAD/ THE GROVE . Temporary signals in use at this jct from Monday 28th July to Monday 1st September 2008 to allow gas main replacement. . BASSETT BREEN ROAD/ BASSETT GREEN VILLAGE . Temporary signals in use at this jct from Monday 14th July to Monday 28th July 2008 to allow gas main replacement. . VINCENT'S GROVE . Road closed for 10 days commencing Thursday 17th July 2008 from its jct with Church Street for a distance of 41m to allow the laying of electrical ducts. Diversion via Church Street and Vincent Street. . CROWN STREET . Road closed for 5 days commencing Wednesday 16th July from its jct with Shirley High Street to a point 56m from its jct with Shirley High Street to allow ducting works to be carried out ahead of programmed resurfacing works. Diversion via Crown Street, Victor Street and Anglesea Road. . WATERHOUSE LANE . Temporary signals in use from Wednesday 7th May to Wednesday 24th September 2008 to allow duct laying to take place. . SHIRLEY HIGH STREET / SHIRLEY ROAD . Carriageway resurfacing work for a period of 7 weeks commencing Monday 28th July 2008. The work is to progress along the road with access maintained up to the actual works area. Local diversions to be signed in vicinity of work. The intended programme of work is : 28th July to 2nd August - Anglesea to Park St. 4th to 8th August - Park St to Howards Grove. 11th to 15th August - Howard Grove to No 395. 18th to 22nd August - 395 to Janson Rd. 25th to 29th August - Janson Rd to Malmsbury Rd. 1st to 5th September - Malmsbury Rd to Howard Rd. 8th to 12th September - Howard Rd to Landguard Rd. . BOTLEY ROAD / SHOP LANE . Temporary signals in use to allow installation of electrical cables at jct with Shop Lane. Starting Monday 14th July until Monday 28th July 2008. . CASTLE WAY . Castle Way is to be closed from its southernmost arm of the service road at the rear of 119 - 124 High Street to a point 125 metres north of the northern kerbline of Porters Lane. This is to allow highway improvements to be carried out. This closure starts 28th July 2008 & is due to last for 5 weeks. Diversion is via West Street, High Street & Town Quay. . ST MARY STREET . Road closed for one day on Sunday 3rd August 2008 from its jct with Chapel Road to a point 90m north of its jct with Chapel Road to allow the dismantling of a tower crane. Diversion. In the event of inclement weather preventing the lift taking place on the 3rd August, a backup date of 10th August will be used. ' HERBERT WALKER AVENUE . Road closure in both directions for 26 days commencing Monday 1st September 2006 from its jct with West Quay Road to the Dock Gate 8 entrance to allow the 2008 Southampton International Boat Show to maintain necessary security. Limited access will be available to Hotel and Dock Gate 8, which will be managed by event marshalls. . EAST PARK TERRACE . Road closed in both directions for two days commencing Saturday 26th July 2008 from its jct with Charlotte Place to its jct with New Road to allow demolition works to be carried out safely. Diversion. . WEST QUAY ROAD . No right turn from West Quay Road into West Quay Road Service Road for two weeks commencing Monday 14th July 2008 to allow highway alterations to be carried out. Diversion. . CAERLEON DRIVE . Road closure in one direction only starting from Caerleon Avenue round to its jct with Upper Deacon Road. This work will last for 14 weeks commencing Tuesday 8th July and is to allow highway maintenance works to be carried out. Diversion via Caerleon Avenue and Upper Deacon Road. . WILTON ROAD . Wilton Road is to be closed from its jct with Winchester Road to its jct with Bellemoor Road. Also the footway on Bellemoor Road will be closed from its jct with Wilton Road to its jct with Moorland Road. This is to allow for traffic calming measures to be implimented. Work starts 28th July 2008 & is due to last for 4 weeks. Diversion route for the Wilton Road closure is via Winchester Road, Luccombe Road & Bellemoor Road. (and vice versa). Diversion for the footway closure is via the opposite footway. . CHURCH STREET . Partial road closure southbound in place for 2 weeks commencing Monday 14th July 2008 between its jct with Victor Street and it jct with Shirley High Street to allow electric cable laying to continue. Diversion via Victor Street and Crown Street. . MARLBOROUGH ROAD . Road closed for 2 weeks commencing Monday 14th July 2008 to allow an electric cable to be laid. For the first week the road will be closed from its jct with Shirley High Street for a distance of 60m and for the second week the road closure will be from its jct with St Edmunds Road to the point 60m from its jct with Shirley High Street. Diversions. . BASSETT GREEN VILLAGE . Road closed for one week commencing Monday 21st July 2008 from outside No. 22 to outside No. 28 Bassett Green Village to allow gas main replacement to take place. . STATION ROAD . Temporary signals in use overnight (20:00 to 06:00) from Monday 28th July to Saturday 9th August 2008 between its junctions with Spring Road and Cranbury Road to allow bridge maintenance to be carried out. . COBDEN AVENUE/ COBBETT ROAD . Temporary signals in use at this jct from Monday 2nd June to Monday 20th October 2008 to allow kerb and footway works to take place. . COBDEN AVENUE/ ST CATHERINE'S ROAD . Temporary signals in use at this jct from Monday 2nd June to Monday 11th August 2008 to allow kerb and footway works to take place. . COBDEN AVENUE . The right turn from Cobden Avenue into Bullar Road is to be banned. The diversion is via Cobden Avenue, Cobbett Road, Bullar Road Gyratory & Bitterne Road West. This is to allow Kerbing & footway works to be carried out. Work starts 2nd June 2008 & is expected to last for 9 weeks. . ST CATHERINE'S RD / THORALD RD . Thorold Road will be closed from its jct with St Catherine's Road for a distance of 10m for 10 weeks. This is to allow gas main replacement ang highway improvement works to take place. Diversions. . MILLBROOK ROUNDABOUT . Highway improvement work on Millbrook Rdbt from Monday 21st April 2008. This work is scheduled to last for 12 weeks. New traffic signals now in operation. . SHIRLEY ROAD AREA . Commencing Sunday 15th June 2008 for 10 weeks, Shirley Road will be closed southbound from its jct with Howard Road to its jct with Languard Road. During this time a one-way system will be in place via Howard Road, Stafford Road, Arthur Road, and Landguard Road. Therefore on this route Howard Road will be closed westbound, Stafford Road and Arthur Road will be closed northbound, and Landguard Road will be closed easbound. Also any roads joining this one-way system will be subject to a banned right turn. This work is to allow electric cables to be laid and kerb and footway resurfacing to take place. . PORTWOOD ROAD . From 26th May for a period of 16 weeks Portswood Rd is to have one-way restriction southbound between jcts with Brookvale Rd and St Denys Rd to allow Southern Gas to replace a gas main. Diversion via St Denys Rd and Thomas Lewis Way. . COBBETT ROAD . The footway from the northermost boundary of No.3 Cobbett Road to the southernmost boundary of No.5 Cobbett Road wil be closed for 6 months from Monday 10th March 2008 to allow construction works to proceed. . ARCHERS ROAD . Parking restriction (No Waiting at Any Time) will be in place for 18 months from Mon 12th November 2007 from: a point 18m west from the south east corner of its jct with The Avenue, for a distance of 90m westbound. This is to provide a safe working area for footway realignments and to alleviate access difficulties. . ALBERT ROAD SOUTH . Development works to be carried out over a period of some 60 weeks commencing Monday 18th February 2008 will result in road/footway closures and waiting restriction changes. . |

For the duration of the works, traffic for Eastleigh Town Centre via Southampton Road will be diverted along the Main Diversion Route via Stoneham Lane, Passfield Avenue, Leigh Road and Romsey Road. Vehicles on the M3 and M27 for Eastleigh Town Centre will be diverted to M3 junctions 12 and 13.
