. WEST QUAY ROAD . West Quay Road will be closed in both directions from its jct with Mountbatten Way to its jct with Southern Rd on the 19th July 2009 and the 16th August 2009 between 03:00 and 10:00 to allow work on the overhead electricity cables to be carried out. . FRENCH STREET . The footway on French Street, adjacent to 88/90 French Street, will be closed for 2 days from 23rd July 2009 between 08:00 and 17:00 to allow access for maintenance work. . ABERDEEN ROAD . Aberdeen Road will be closed 24 hours a day from its jct with Priory Rd to a point 20m from its jct with Priory Rd for 8 weeks from 13th July 2009 to allow gas main replacement works to be carried out. . IVY ROAD . Ivy Road will be closed 24 hours a day from its jct with Priory Rd to a point 20m from its jct with Priory Rd for 8 weeks from 6th July 2009 to allow gas main replacement works to be carried out. . WEST END ROAD . Temporary traffic signals will be in operation 24 hours a day on West End Road from its jct with Chalk Hill to its jct with St Francis Ave from 30th June 2009 to 10th August 2009 to allow gas main replacement works to take place. . HIGH ROAD . High Road will be closed southbound from its jct with Burgess Rd to its jct with Langhorn Rd 24 hours a day for 9 weeks from the 6th July 2009 to allow gas main replacement works to take place. . HIGH STREET / WEST STREET . Temporary traffic signals will be in operation 24 hours a day at the jct of High Street and West Street from 1st July 2009 to 5th July 2009 to allow kerb and footway works to take place. . WESTON PARADE . Temporary traffic signals will be in operation 24 hours a day along Weston Parade from 6th July 2009 to 10th July 2009 to allow car park works to take place. . BRIDGE ROAD . Bridge Road resurfacing: Stage 1: Defender Road, Tankerville Road, Radstock Road & Ailsa Lane are all to be closed from their jcts with Bridge Road. This will be from 29th June for 5 days & is to allow resurfacing work to be carried out on Bridge Road.Local diversions will be signed. Stage 2: Ailsa Lane, Tranby Road &Peartree Road eastern section & western section will be closed from 1st July 2009 for 5 days to allow carriageway resurfacing to take place. . THE AVENUE . The race for life will take place on Sunday 12 July 2009 On the Avenue between Burgess Road & Northlands Road with various Road closures & compulsary left turns. The traffic restrictions come into effect from 07:15 until 14:00 . MOUNT PLEASANT ROAD . Mount Pleasant Road will be closed from its jct with Radcliffe Rd to its jct with Northumberland Rd on 16th August 2009 for 7hrs from 00:45 and again on 6th September for 5 1/2hrs from 01:45 to allow maintenance work at the level crossing to take place. . LYON STREET . Lyon Street will be closed at its jct with Dorset Street on 7th July 2009 for one day between 09:30 and 15:30 to allow the repair to a leaking water valve. . CHAPEL ROAD . Chapel Road will be closed from its jct with Paget Street to its jct with City College entrance on 27th July 2009 for a period 4 weeks and then from its jct with St Mary Street to its jct with City College entrance on 24th August 2009 for a period of 14 weeks to allow the carriageway to be reconstructed to a higher level. . GRAHAM ROAD . The road will be closed from outside No.86 Graham Rd to outside No.100 Graham Rd for 1 day on 6th July 2009 to allow a crane lift to take place. Diversion via: St Mary's Rd, Clovelley Rd and Exmoor Rd. . WIMPSON LANE . Temporary traffic signals will be in operation for 24 hours a day on Wimpson Lane at its jct with Maybush Rd from 1st July 2009 to 13th July 2009 to allow kerb and footway works to take place. . WINCHESTER ROAD . Winchester Road will be partially closed from its jct with Hill Lane to its jct with Bassett Avenue on the 22nd June 2009 for a period of 4 weeks to allow carriageway resurfacing to take place. Works will be carried out between 19:30 and 06:00 hours. UPDATE: Winchester Road will be closed from its jct with Hill Lane to its jct with Ashwood Gardens on the 6th July 2009 between 19:30 and 06:00 to allow carriageway resurfacing to take place. There will also be temporary traffic signals in operation on Hill Lane rdbt between Hill Lane jct and Burgess Rd jct at the same time. . PORTSMOUTH ROAD . Kerb and footway works between the jct with Worcester Place and the jct with Botley Road starting 26th May until 17th July. Temporary signals will be in operation 24hrs a day. . NORTHAM ROAD . There will be a lane closure outbound on Northam Road between its jct with Britannia Rd and its jct with Union Rd for a period of 5 weeks from 27th April 2009. There will also be a lane closure on Britannia Rd outbound at its jct with Northam Rd for the same period. This is to allow gas main replacement works to take place. The lane closure will continue for a further 7 weeks to allow kerb and footway works to be carried out. . HIGH STREET . There will be a partial road closure in effect on High Street heading northbound from its jct with Town Quay to its jct with Briton Street for a period of 20 weeks from 3rd June 2009. This is to allow kerb and footway reconstruction to take place. . WIMPSON LANE . Temporary traffic signals will be in operation 24 hours a day from the 5th May 2009 to 25th September 2009 to allow kerbing and footway works to take place along Wimpson lane from its jct with Windermere Ave/Redbridge Hill to its jct with Romsey rd (Maybush Corner). . ARCHERS ROAD . Closed westbound between jct with Banister Rd to jct with Hill Lane for a period of 14 weeks from Monday 20th April 2009 to allow gas main reinforcement work to be carried out. Diversion via Carlton Rd, Wilton Ave, Milton Rd and Hill Lane. **** ROAD TO BE FULLY REOPENED MID-DAY MONDAY 22ND JUNE 2009 **** Further works to take place from 6th July until end of the month at the Archers Rd / Carlton Rd / Bannister Rd jct. . REDBRIDGE & MILLBROOK FLYOVERS . Bridge strengthening work started Monday 16th March 2009 on both flyovers at Redbridge and Millbrook. However the carriageway is unaffected until Monday 27th April 2009 when highway restrictions come into force affecting all lanes. The signed restrictions for speed, vehicle width, and access is to apply until completion of work scheduled for October 2009. UPDATE: The following overnight closures from 22:00 to 05:30 will take place for the entire length of Redbridge & Millbrook flyovers. 7th/8th, 14th/15th, 21st/22nd, 28th/29th July 2009. 4th/5th, 11th/12th, 18th/19th, 25th/26th August 2009. 1st/2nd, 8th/9th, 15th/16th, 22nd/23rd, 29th/30th September 2009. 6th/7th, 13th/14th, 20th/21st, 27th/28th October 2009 This is to allow bridge maintenance work to be carried out. . |

The Regiment have previously been given the Freedom of the City and this will be the first time they have exercised this right. . 11.20pm Parade forms up and Inspection is made by The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Southampton. . Freedom March will start at 12.00 pm approx. It will start from the Civic Centre, Proceed into Civic Centre Road, Right into Above Bar Street and continue into precinct. . Through the Bargate Monument, Turn immediate left and continue up East Bargate Back up the precinct Into Above Bar Street. . Turn left into Civic Centre Road Return to Civic Centre. . |
